Things to see and do around Muker...

Swaledale and Wensleydale are a hive of activity throughout the year; there's Reeth and Muker shows in August and September, Hazelbrow Organic Farm, has a visitor centre, farmshop & cafe, animal handling sessions & seasonal demonstrations. Leyburn hosts The Dales Festival of Food & Drink each May (always busy) and Swaledale hosts its own music and art festival to name a few events. A great day out for all ages is guaranteed in The Yorkshire Dales, whatever the weather!.

Where to visit…

Muker providers a great base for walkers exploring the dale, the village itself has an artists gallery, Swaledale Woollens (the only place to buy hand-knitted woollen jumpers & cardigans), and Muker Tea Room & shop.

Reeth and Hawes are the closest market towns, offering numerous cafes and pubs, shops, museums and unique attractions.

The home of Wallace & Gromit Wensleydale Cheese is a place not to be missed at the Wensleydale Creamery. Located in beautiful Upper Wensleydale near Hawes, the visitor centre offers a museum, viewing gallery to watch the cheese making process, specialist cheese shop and licensed restaurant.

Richmond is the next nearest market town, 10 miles down the dale. Richmond boasts an authentic Georgian Theatre, 11th century castle, cobbled market place and georgian streets make it worth a look. The old railway station, aptly named The Station, has been re-developed to house numerous shops, Seasons Cafe and 2 cinema screens.

Swaledale and Wensleydale are home to numerous other attractions, such as the Dales Mountain Bike Centre, Hardraw Force, Bolton Castle, Aysgarth Falls, the Buttertubs and the Forbidden Corner, which can be incorporated into a days walk.
